Pinhole adventures

13.6. 2024

So I was dialing in taking pictures with my pinhole Populist model camera and I have to tell you I like it more and more. Something about the process of taking those pictures, finding the spot where to put the camera, trying to hold it steady, trying to estimate exposure time and angle, is making me feel something good. And pictures themselves tends to surprise me and have dreamy quality I’m very often after.

Light leaks, caused by paper I chose for camera, are finally fixed. Now whole inside of camera is covered with 120 backing paper. I kinda wish pictures were a little bit sharper, just a little bit, so I might experiment with pinhole size little bit more, but I might not.

I like the camera shake effect on this one

Because as above picture shows, more pressing issue I have is holding the camera steady. Mainly when I operate the shutter. I don’t like the idea of tripod. If i have such a small and light camera I can take literally anywhere with me, I don’t want to carry any tripod with it. And I suspect that even tripod would not stop me from moving camera when opening the shutter. Well, I’ve got something to think about.

One idea I had was to attach something like velcro zip tie to camera and tie it to things, so might try that.
