Making pictures

17.8. 2024

This summer is hot. Really hot. I remember a few hot weeks in last years, but I don’t really remember this many in row. It is a little bit difficult for me to go outside in this weather and take pictures. Which would make me a little upset, but the heat sucks the energy necessary to be upset out of me.

Despite that I took a little walk to a car race. Little walk turned out to be about 20 km long, without water and food. I had quite adventurous feeling afterwards. I ate apples I found by the path and I think they saved my life! To be even more funny, I never saw an actual race – by the time I get to the track, the announcer stopped the race because of leaked oil on the road. Well, I took a few pictures, turned around and walked home.

I also took a few days trip with family and friends. The place is right beside a pond that provided some refreshment. Refresh yourself.

I took about three shorter rolls of pictures on this trip, most of them of people and one birthday party. I noticed I’m usually looking forward to take pictures of people in such occasions, because they are quite rare for me. I’m not comfortable taking pictures of strangers and to be honest, I’m not even that interested in that.

I also made a few prints from that trip and it was nice activity again. I’m however starting to feel the good old “could be better” feeling about the results. I like them, they are not bad in my opinion and I’m really thankful that they even exists. But they could be better. I think it is time to start experiment with dodging and burning and such. I would like to be able to print the pictures at least as good as I am able to edit them in computer. Which, I am afraid, will necessarily involve making some custom dodge and burn cut masks and such. We’ll see.
